asfalt (hars)

Asfalt is een bitumineuze hars. In J.N. Nièpce's heliochroomproces werd asfalt gebruikt als de lichtgevoelige substantie. Het werd ook gebruikt als bestanddeel van zwarte vernis achter ambrotypieën en ferrotypieën en als etsgrond bij het fotogravureproces. (Conservation Dictionary)
